Tutorials For The Music Makers
Whatever your view on digital distribution and music sales, it is clear that the Internet has enabled many new modes of worldwide intercommunication. This means that it’s easier than ever to learn how to get started with music production…
Music Tutorials Ready For Prime Time
Primeloops is one of the main sample sites currently in operation; they provide sample packs across a variety of genres, with the distinction of having a bias towards smaller bundles at more affordable prices – many of their packs, for example, cost between 10 and 20 euro/dollars.
However, they also have a free tips and tricks section which provides a decent selection of music production tutorials (aimed primarily at beginners), both as videos and PDFs.
The video section contains tutorials on such programs as Reason, Ableton Live, Garageband, FL Studio and Logic – as well as introductions to concepts such as EQ and compression.
If you’re new to the world of computer music production, then these guides may be helpful – about halfway through the above video, the use of portamento and arpeggiator functions are introduced, for example.

If you’re a Pro Tools user, there are plenty of tutorials out there for you as well. Audio Geek Zine have compiled a handy list of the best (and worst) Pro Tools Videos.
You can check out Record Ready’s batch of essential Pro Tools videos here.
If you’re a Pro Tools HD user, then you might find some useful insights over at Brent Heber’s blog – he also has a collection of tutorial videos for your delectation.
