Music Technology Blog Turns One

Today is the official birthday of the Podcomplex Music Technology Blog – it’s been a year now since I wrote my first post here in September 2006. Although I only began posting regularly in March 2007, I think I’ll take this opportunity to highlight some of the main stories that have featured on these pages over the past twelve months…

The blog dipped its toe in the Mac versus PC debate at an early stage; it was perhaps fortunate that nobody was reading it then, as this is some very dangerous territory to venture down which often descends into a pointless comment flame war. After a lengthy hiatus, the blog returned with a musical cookbook, some creativity enhancement ideas and the increasingly topical issue of audio quality. The music technology news page also provides a daily update of what’s going on in the worlds of music and technology.

A major addition to the site was the introduction of the OMS independent music database in May, which allows new bands to sign up for free music distribution right here at Podcomplex. This is a great resource for finding new music by previously unknown artists around the world, and is also extremely valuable as a music promotion tool.

Here are a few of the most popular articles from the blog’s first year of existence:

There are of course many more valuable articles in the archives (which you can browse by month, or search using the search box on the right), and the blog will hopefully continue to grow over the next year – so don’t forget to add the Podcomplex Music Technology Blog to your RSS reader!
