RPM Challenge 2011

Another year, another challenge to the procrastinating producer – can you write and record an entire album in the month of February?

Tangible Results

The RPM Challenge aims to overcome the psychological barriers that stand between artists and album completion.

How is this done, you might ask? Simple – by imposing that most sophisticated of devices, the deadline.

This is no time for endlessly tweaking EQ settings on a channel the sound you’re listening to isn’t even on, in a perverse and futile quest to achieve some sort of transcendent audio perfection.

The RPM Challenge throws such pretense out the window – the next 28 days are all about getting it done.

It’s a fun challenge, and no matter what the end result, there are inevitably going to be some positive outcomes – whether that means one song out of the ten is actually good, or you just learned a few things about music production.

For anyone who is curious (and brave), here are the first four Canabrismal attempts at a four-week album…
