New Features in Version 4.0
Reason 4 - Thor Polysonic Synthesiser
The Thor features six different oscillator types and four unique filters, possibly making it the most powerful software synth of all time. Most synths use only one form of synthesis to generate their sounds, but Thor's multiplicity of virtual circuitry means that it can sound like a classic analog synth for one track, and sound like nothing you've ever heard on the next. This is really a sound tweaker's delight, with formant filter, state variable filter, comb filter, LFO and envelope controls, MIDI and step sequence triggers...the list goes on. If you can't get a totally unique sound out of this, then you just haven't been trying...
Reason 4 - ReGroove
The ReGroove unit is a groove management console which looks more like a mixer. This can be used to apply different groove or quantisation settings to 32 elements of a track, completely independently of one another if so desired. This offers the potential for far more complex rhythmic control and alteration than split sample units like the Dr. Rex, and offers a variety of automation and preset options that can make any track ReGroovable in seconds. In some respects, it's like an unquantisation unit that can deal with much more elaborate syncopation than a simple shuffle groove; you can control the rhythm to a very fine level, giving beats that natural, live drummer feel whilst still remaining locked in and rock solid.Reason 4 - The Details
The sequencer has gotten a massive makeover, and now includes vector automation, a transport track and track folding. The RPG-8 is the new monophonic arpeggiator, which has been in the pipeline for some time now. Other features include French, German and Japanese editions, extra factory patches and a tool window for optimising your workflow.Reason 4 - Where Are You?
If you want to buy Reason 4 and you live in Japan, the official release date is October 10. Us lucky Europeans can buy Reason 4 right now from iMusician in the UK. You can also go to Gear4music for the full version of Reason 4.0, or if you already own a previous version of Reason, you can get the Reason 4 upgrade pack instead.Buy Reason 4 Now | Secure Ordering and Delivery from iMusician
